Confession Overcomes Temptations

February 1st, 2018

Just in the dawn of a new day while I was busy trying to set the course for the day, the Holy Spirit called my attention to a great truth, it is "Confession Overcomes Temptations". What preceded the sound of that small still voice? I was being bothered with so much ungodly thoughts and I found myself keeping quiet, and the more I was silent, the greater I was losing my strength. That was exactly the scenario that propelled the sound of the small still voice.

Afterwards, the Holy Spirit made me realise that the problem I have is not the ungodly thoughts suggested by the devil but that I have kept too quiet allowing the devil to talk me into his will. He reminded me that "For first cometh to the mind the simple suggestions, then the strong imagination, afterwards pleasure, evil affection, assent. And so little by little, the enemy entereth in altogether because he was not resisted at the beginning. And longer a man delayeth his resistance, the weaker he growth and the stronger the enemy against him.”

Then I had this great insight that if I must overcome every temptation that comes my way then I must learn to talk the devil out of my life by my confessions. Remember the Bible said "Take up the weapons of the Lord Jesus Christ and stop paying attention to your sinful nature and satisfying its desire." – Rom 13:14 (GNV). When we allow the devil to talk us into his will, he succeeds in awakening the desires of the sinful nature in us but when we talk the devil out by the confessions of the God’s WORD, we succeed in putting on the weapons of the Lord Jesus Christ which is His WORD. Thus we are strengthened and empowered to overcome and resist every desires of our sinful nature.

In conclusion, do not stop confessing the WORD because by it you become an overcomer and a victor. Temptations will surely come but we gain victory over temptation through the confession of the WORD. Remember “the weapon of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God in pulling down strong holds.” The devil leaves our lives with his suggestions when we confess God’s WORD because he cannot dwell in the midst of the WORD. However, if you keep quiet, you are giving him greater chances over you. So learn to confess the WORD to every situations and should the WORD of God is yet to be established in you, then commend yourself to God and the WORD of His grace which is able to build you up and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.
